Support for Sports

Making Japan a more dynamic place through the power of sports

Over the generations, SAPTI has always supported sports, teams, and athletes through its business.
Looking back, one of the major turning points in our history was the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, for which we produced over 90 percent of the flags and banners. We have contributed to the success of many other international sporting events since, including the 1998 Nagano Olympics, for which we likewise made the flags and banners. We also produced the team flags for Japan’s twelve professional baseball teams until the 1990s; and when the Japanese professional soccer league, J.League, was launched in 1993, we made supporter flags for every team.
Sports have the power to inspire. They have created countless moments of excitement that live on in people’s hearts. We intend to continue doing our own small part to promote sports and support athletes as they push their limits.

The Buildup to the 2020 Olympics

The 2020 summer Olympics are to take place in Tokyo, and we intend to help make the Games a success by drawing on our experience to date. At the previous Tokyo Olympics in 1964, we produced over 90 percent of the Japanese flags used at the games, the international flags flown in the stadium, and even the banners that decked the streets. We still take great pride in the important contribution we made on that occasion as a supplier of flags and banners.

The Japanese economy and landscape have been transformed in the intervening decades. But while much has changed, some things remain the same. And now we await our second Tokyo Olympics. As 2020 approaches, we intend to do our small part to fuel the excitement.
